Planning, building and growing an online business
First, it is episode 100 and it coincides with the doors opening to the all-new Success Club. I launched this membership last year under the brand name of Kaz Academy.
After running a while and getting feedback from its members, the membership has undergone a huge transformation including a new name to boot, more about the name change in another time
Today I am going to talk about planning, building a growing an online business. From talking about how I started out, what I learned along the way, and where I am taking the Success Club over the next couple of years.
When I first started out with my own online business in 2003, it was out of need. I did not have a clue and had no one to guide me. Over the next several years I set up an online accreditated training business, delivering teaching and assessing courses and qualifications. Along the way, I also become an affiliate marketer, sold books on Amazon, sold online courses and downloads and vernally anything I found would sell as an online passive income.
In 2016, I set up my first membership program specifically for trainers and assessors and training companies. I closed my own accreditated training centre in 2017 and downside my team and became a soloprenuer. I found that it was really hard to give up what I had been doing for most of my life and saying goodbye to my trainers and assessors as well as my team who support me. I liked the model of the membership program but found it hard to deliver training outside the learning outcomes I used to have to adhere to at first and felt strangely lost.
In 2018, I set up the Kaz Academy from the feedback I was getting to help other people to do what I had been doing, and so the Kaz Academy was born. Then listening to the feedback I was getting I did a huge overhaul of the Kaz Academy and rebranded it to the Success Club. It has been a long slog that’s for sure. This passive income malarky felt at times far from passive, but I went about planning, building and now I growing this new venture of my online business combining my love of teaching and helping others too.
Although now I tend to approach it from a different angle now than when I first started.
Everything I have done over the last few years that I have done, from setting up my first online venture, I now share with you over at the Success Club, from planning, building to growing it! I share how I make money as an affiliate, to creating online courses, which is where I started my teaching career, to be honest, I am still teaching people how to use IT, as that is what I specialised in teaching all those years ago when I first set up.
Then whilst my divorce was going through I took some time out to study another passion of mine, marketing. The great thing about teaching is all the learning that you have to do to pass it on to other people. I remember hearing Mel Robbins say once, ‘the reason people become teachers, is that they love learning’. That put a smile on my face as even now, I have a thirst for learning, then applying it and then teaching it.
Do I miss teaching people face to face?
Yes I do, and I am looking at doing some live events next year, but for now, I love the freedom that an online business gives meet to be able to go and visit my young at heart mum, who is in her 90’s and about a 3 hour drive away, to spending time with my children and grandchildren, who live a couple of hours drive in the other direction.
I also love being able to get away in nature, this helps rejuvenate my soul so that I can come back to feeling energised and full of passion so that I can help others to live the life I do, a life of freedom with the knowledge I can make a difference to others. I never forgot the day that one of my learners came to see me a couple of years after she qualified to thank me and to tell me what a difference it made, not only to her life but to her children’s too as she was able to get a well-paid job that enabled her and her children to have a better quality in life. Money could never replace the feelings I felt when she told me that.
So I want you to take a moment to think about how you can make a difference to someone bypassing the knowledge you have in your head and start planning your online business too, not only to make money, of course, that is nice as well, but to be able to give you the freedom to be with the ones you love, and to have the freedom to live, not just to survive, but to thrive as well.
Now it’s over to you. And to help you along the way to get started planing, building and growing your successful online business, I am here to support you every step of the way and to celebrate this 100th episode and the launch of the new membership program, I am offering a special standard lifetime membership, that won’t be offered ever again.
