Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 122 and today I am talking about Setting Strategic Goals for Social media

So what is a social media strategy?

A social media marketing strategy is a summary of everything you plan to do and hope to achieve on social media.

It helps you to guide your actions and will let you know whether you’re succeeding or not.

Each post, reply, like, and comment should serve a purpose and not just put up without thought first in thinking, what is the aim of this post?

The more specific your strategy is, the better the execution will be.

Just remember to make your plan SMART – specific, measurable, achievable, relative and time-bound.

When planning out your goals, try to keep in mind also, that your post should be either, educational, inspirational or entertains too!

Start from where you are with what you have. It’s time to take a stock check of what you have already got. Is it evergreen? By this I mean is it going to go out of date? If it is, these posts can be reused. But first of all download my spreadsheet so that you can put on the posts with links to them, just head on over to for the download.

Once you have completed the list, you will need to find out what’s working, so you can do more of it, and what is not working, so you can either change it up, or dispose of it.

What social media accounts are you using? Each channel will need a different message, but could link back to say, your blog post.

What are you using to analyse your results?

First, of all, think about what you are going to measure, is it ongoing analytics, or is it a campaign with a start and end date with a specific goal in mind?

Now then, what goals did you have in mind? Was it to drive awareness of your brand? Was it to get people to read a blog, sign up for a download? Join a webinar perhaps? Or to join your Facebook group?

Now you have some metrics to measure, you can focus on measuring and seeing if the results are what you expected.

When you have set your social media goals, you can then plan your social media, measure it, tweak it and then repeat.

When I set my goals, I look at what is coming up the next month and will plan my social media around that, as well as promoting my blogs, which will have been planned around my masterclasses and quick wins, as well as any personal development I talk about regarding my business.
