Karen:Today I am talking about online learning and how both your customers and yourself can benefit if you can offer a medium to share your knowledge, grow your business and show you as the ‘go to person’ in your industry.

Online learning is thriving…

I started my online business 10 years ago out of necessity.  After running a training business in a bricks and mortar premises, divorce led me to having to start over with what I had left.  Once PC and the internet.

I started delivering online training with absolutely no idea! But the model I used then, although the software and systems have changed through many years of updates, remain the same.

Although I still do the occasional live trainings, most of my income comes from online trainings.  I now use my knowledge to help other people to create online businesses.  And I not only tell you what to do, I show, people what to do too!

There are many ways to deliver your online learning, either through downloadable books, webinars, recordings or memberships.  A good mix of all is good, even if it is of the same course as people learn differently.

Some people are auditory learners, these people benefit from audio recordings and videos, some people learn kinesthetically, so by giving them something to ‘do’ either an action plan or a quiz hits the mark for these people.

The software has advanced greatly since I first started my online business and it has never been easier to start an online training program of some kind.

This is an information knowledge world and people are only too happy to pay for the knowledge you have no matter how easy you think it is, remember, you learned it from somewhere else right!

By delivering this knowledge online, your learners can access your course at a time and place to suit them, not only that, they can rewatch videos, re-read notes and listen to the audio again and again.  For you the benefits are huge, for example, I only write the outline of a course, then promote it.

If no one buys, then I have not wasted my time, money and effort in creating something that no one is interested in, this goes for my books too!… However, as soon as just one person purchases the course or book, I write it and after that, it goes evergreen, so I get paid, paid and paid again.  So it’s a win-win solution for the learner and myself!

So you might be thinking that you have nothing to teach!!! wohaaa there a minute.  You are an expert in your field, so if you are selling a product, teach them how to use it and how they can benefit from it.

Now then, I want you to take a moment, grab a pen and paper, now if you are driving whilst you are listening to this, just take a mental note to either come back to this podcast or go to to do this task later.

No then, write down what product or services you offer.

Now write down what benefits the user will get after using your product or service.

Once you do that, think about what you can offer, for example, a book, or even a video, that you could create to help your customer achieve their goal.

Once you have come up with your idea, create a landing page for people to sign up for it, then start with the promotions.  I tend to offer something with a lead time of at least 6 weeks or more, then keep an eye on any sign ups or questions people start asking.  With the questions, I tend to answer that person, then add a FAQ section on the landing page.
