Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 151 and today I am talking about accountability, especially for your business.
First of all are you accountable to anyone? If you are working by yourself you are probably only accountable to the tax man!
I always find my own coach very helpful. It helps me to spur me on when I am feeling demotivated, tired, or now sure if what I am doing is the right thing.
One way you can change this is to have an accountability pattern, this can be a buddy, someone you meet up on a regular basis to be accountable to for your vision, goals, and next steps. This could be someone you know, not a family member or friend unless this person has the same goal-setting strategies that you have. The same motivation that you do and the same desires as you do.
Another way is to join an accountability group. This is a group of people who meet up on a regular basis, say once a week, or fortnightly to reach their goals as studies have shown that they are 95% more likely to reach their goals when they shared them and reviewed them regularly with a group than those who did not.
Most business owners are not looking for another meeting, so its good to keep these sessions short, say 15 -20 minutes long, with a leader who makes sure that each member stays on topic, introduces each person, and reminds them that they have just 2 mins to tell the group how they are feeling, tell them about last weeks goal and if they achieved it, and lastly, each participant states next weeks goal, That’s it! Quick, short, and effective.
The leader of the group will also make sure that the group’s meeting and making sure that each participates know the importance of attending the group.
The leader should also ideally set SMART goals, and perhaps carried out by a remote meeting tool such as Zoom, Skype, Google hangouts so that each person does not have to drive somewhere
If you feel that an accountability group would suit you, why not join our accountability group for free to act as a sounding board, be accountable, and get motivated if you are stuck in a rut!
