Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 151, and today I am talking about communication, especially for your business.
I have enrolled on a couple of courses, as a perpetual learner it’s something that I always do, and I was really surprised by the lack of communication between the tutor and the learners, not on just one course, but both of my courses and it got me thinking about communication, especially online.
When I took my first teaching course, the first thing we talked about is communication and how that when you are teaching you to need to communicate your message.
If you have a team, do you have a daily huddle where you get to meet up and ask your team if they have any issues? Do you also communicate with them about your news? This could be an up and coming project, a new sales line, or anything to do with your business? Also, it is a great idea to get feedback from your team members as they often provide a good inside to what is going on and they will give you great ideas not only how to improve your business, but they will give you some great inspiration for new products and how to streamline your business and make it more productive too!
Do you have a daily huddle to communicate to your team what is going on with the company and share its wins and losses? Don’t forget that in these huddles, that communication is a two-way thing, you need to ask questions, and get feedback from your team as it is just as important that you get communication from them too to understand what is really going on with the business and not just a blinded perspective.
This two-way communication helps people to stay on track with the company’s mission, it helps to streamline the company’s procedures and helps reduce errors too!
How do you communicate with your other customers too? Do you have feedback forms for them to anonymously send their feedback to you? Do you communicate with your suppliers? What about your stakeholders, how do you communicate with them?
And finally, as I am currently writing this, we are in a pandemic and a lot of people are working from home, so it is even more important that you can keep the communication going, these huddles can now take place remotely and not just by email as you want to avoid email overload and these huddles can improve the moral of them feeling isolated and working as part of a team!
