Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 155, and today I am talking about redesigning your business.
Each quarter I step back from my business, take a break, and do a quarterly review. Although this was different – we did not see COVID 19 coming and for a lot of people, we had to pivot and redesign our business.
People have lost jobs, some people have had to work from home and adjust the way they work and for many entrepreneurs, they have had to resign their business.
I have had to pivot more times than I care to admit, but stepping back and looking at what does work, so you can do more of it, what doesn’t work, so you can delete it, and what you can do better the next time.
No 1 – Take your business online
I have been working online since 2003. It was not easy at first, but now with so many incredible software and help out there, it is now easier than ever!
Maybe you have a course, you can take this online, maybe you do a retreat, you can do live virtual retreats, maybe you have a service that you can take online? Or product? You can sell this online in your own shop using something like woocommerce or shoplift, or have you thought about selling it on Etsy or eBay? What about your local Facebook Market place?
There are loads of ways you can sell and deliver your product online that it would be great if you can drop a few links on the comments below stating what you sell online?
No 2 – Take on help
Yes, that’s right! By taking on some help you start taking yourself out of the business so that you can concentrate on what you are worth (see next tip) and work on the business instead of in the business.
Here are some ideas that you could get help with: –
- Bookkeeping, accounting and invoicing
- Social media help
- Web design
- Blog writing
- Podcast editing
- Car valet
- Graphic design
- Database upkeep
- House and or office cleaner
- Dog grooming
- IT support
- GDPR complaint
- Creating videos for your online social media or online courses
No 3 – Charge what you are worth
I remember hearing a story about a man who charges £100 for hitting a bolt in a machine – when the owner of the machine thought about the price, he complained, and the guy who hit the right bolt in the right place replied “it may have taken me seconds to hit the right bolt, but it took me years of learning and doing to get the right knowledge.” You see, it’s not how long something takes, but how long did you take to get where you are?
Re-evaluate what you are worth, and make sure you charge accordingly as people will not see you as the expert and they will not trust you to do the work for them.
So stop struggling, and make sure you charge exactly what you are worth!
No 4 – Work with strategic partners
This can be a game-changer! No, hear me out… By working with people who have the same target audience, but who’s needs are different can be a great way to redesign your business!
For example, you do wedding photography, now who else could you partner with that has the same audience as you do? Here are some ideas: –
- Wedding venues
- Makeup artists
- Wedding dresses
These are just some ideas of who you could approach to become a strategic partner for you? Just make sure that you clearly define what differences you have in the partnership and define what is important to both of you!
No 5 – Tell your story
You might think that no one is interested in your story, but how wrong are you!
People are interested in how you got from where you were to where you are now. By telling your story it helps you to build up that like, know, and trust factor!
Always tell your story, do not be afraid to speak of your losses as well as your wins, this makes you more human. Especially if you speak about how you made this transformation. This gives you empathy to show people that you too have been there and you have felt their pain, but got through it by telling them how you did and that you can help them too!
So there you have it! Just 5 ways you can redesign your business to make it a successful one! Can you add any more? Put your answers in the comments below, I would love to share them.
