5 ways to find the help you need
You are listening to the Success Club Podcast. Hello and welcome to session 156. This week I am talking to you about 5 ways to find the help you need.
There never seems to be enough time in the day and often we need help in our daily life, from running the business to running our home.
No one person can do it all if they want a balanced life. So here are 5 ways you can find all the help you need to do just that.
Tip no one – what are the things you can outsource?
First of all, you need to look at all the things you are doing and decide what it is you either don’t like doing or that someone else can do. From online shopping to ironing or doing your accounts.
Ask around – either your friends, relatives, or something like Facebook, just ask.
Tip no two – make it all about them
This follows on from tip no one really. When you ask around for help on a project, make it all about them, and not you.
People just love to help, and if you ask someone who is already in your business, just ask them, but in a way that they feel appreciated. Just make it all about them and before you know it, they will be on board with the idea, and don’t forget to tell them what it is you want clearly.
Be actively positive, tell them about what it is you want and give them the timeframe for this project.
Tip no 3 – dump it!
Yes, get rid of it. Whilst this is not about getting the help from someone else, it’s a way of getting help by getting rid of the task in hand.
Sometimes we do something because we have always done it. Have you tried to get rid of this project or task? When you do a weekly review, consider going through all the things you are doing with the
view of getting rid of it altogether.
Tip no 4 – get a plan
It will help you to get clear on things like your goals to strategies and action plans.
It is a working document that can be changed depending on where the business is going things like global and local change, to helping you get funding or a loan.
You can ask questions when setting up a business plan like, who is my target audience and what do they want, to things like, ‘What are my objectives, strategies and action plans that will help me to achieve my goals?’. By writing up a clear business plan, either by yourself or with a coach or mentor, it will help you to stay focused only if you get it out and read it often, say like once a week on your review and plan day.
Tip no 5 – Take time off!
Take time off! This is so important if you want to help yourself!
Everyone needs to rest and rejuvenate in order for you to come back to work energised and focused.
And by taking time off, I mean doing things that will help you to feel good, from napping to walking in nature, reading a book, or watching a film.
This has to be a priority in your life if you want to help yourself to be so clear about what you are doing. Studies have found that the more time you take off, the more productive, less stressed, more creative, process ideas.
It took me a while to realise this and now I structure it in my weekly plan. I also make sure that I take regular breaks by getting into nature as this has been proven to help you focus. If for example, I have a foggy head from to much work or study, I go out for a walk. I come back with a clear head and I am twice as productive.
