This week I am talking to you about knowing your customers.

Hello and welcome to episode 36 Of the Kaz Johnson show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am the blogger behind Kazjohnson.com and the Kaz Academy. Today I am talking about knowing your customers.  By taking the time to segment your customers and finding out what they want, you are able to build a business of know, like and trust.  By clearly understanding your customer, you can have the ability to change and to react to the latest trends and deliver exactly what they want.  Knowing your customers has to be at the heart of every business, whithout it, your customers will go elsewhere and your business will eventually die a death.  Do not be the next Toy’s R Us!

So, what do you need to know?

1. Who they are, 2, what they buy and number 3, why they buy it.

If you can, go and grab a pen and paper as I am going to get you to answer some questions here…

So let’s start with who they are… do you sell to individuals or customers? How old are they? Male or Email? where do they live? If it is a business, what type of business? Is it a large business or are they a soloprenuer?

Next up, What do they buy?  Is it a product or a service?

When do they buy? Is it seansonal? Is it a recurring purchase?

And finally, why do they buy it? Can you solve a problem they have?

No you have answered these few questions, you are getting a better picture of your ideal customer, some people create an avatar for this, do this if you find it useful, but you MUST do this before you do anything else now.. go on… just do it.  Once you really know who your customer is and you can delver the wants, the product or service, and keep reviewing who your customer is and what they want, your business will go from strength to strength.  Remember when I first started my business, I just listened to what they wanted and delivered.. my business grew from strength to strength with a lot of referrals and you can’t get better advertising than that, and besides, it’s free.

So, start with the end in mind, knowing what your customers want, you can provide this for them and you will never have to work so hard at getting new customers in the door.
