This week I am talking to you about the 5 top tools I use in my business.
Hello and welcome to episode 40 of the Kaz Johnson show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am the blogger behind Kazjohnson.com and the Kaz Academy. The Kaz Academy is the place to be if you are planning, building or growing your online business with online courses and a membership programme. You can learn more about what I do at Kazjohnson.com
Today I am talking about the 5 top tools I use in my business.
I have tried and tested a lot of tools that help me in business. Some I kept, others I have banished. However, this is the top 5 tools I use in my business and could not do without.
Without a doubt, this is my number one tool that I use on a daily basis. It’s free, easy to use and Mr Google loves it.
Whilst you should not depend on running your business on social media, although you use social media to raise awareness, you will be using WordPress for your website or your blog to drive people to your site to further engage with them and start a relationship. I have a free 5 day Blog Challenge Course for you, just head on over to kazjohnson.com/5day to get signed up.
Moving on them to my 2nd most used tool…
I have tried various social media tools, and hands down, this is the easiest and best tool for social media that I have used.
As soon as I have written a blog, I pop over to Meetegar and pop it into the blog content box.
Not only can you schedule to send your posts out to the right social media platform, if your contact is evergreen, Meetedgar it will keep recycling it for you.
Now, then, I have written a blog, added to social media to drive traffic to my blog, now I need to start capturing details and starting a relationship with people.
I offer various lead magnets, I now place them all in my Kaz Academy for free and people can sign up to the Kaz Academy as a Plus member for free to access these once they have given me permission to do so by entering their contact details.
They then get access to the Academy as a free member, and I get to send them updates, tips and offers via my weekly newsletter.
I have used a few email software programs, but have settled for GetResponse. It’s reasonably priced and has lots of features and works with a lot of 3rd party applications too! One of the features I use a lot is the Perfect Timing facility. I notice by using this, I have lots more opens. As well as segmenting my lists, they have some awesome templates that you can use and optimise in a way that suits you.
These are the main reasons that I stay with GetResponse, and yes, there are lot to choose from, however, some of them have a HUGE learning curve, so, for now, I will stay with GetReponse as I am still learning all it has to offer, but GetResponse is a great tool to start with.
Now then, writing blogs can be made so much easier with MarsEdit. With the ability to write undisturbed by notifications, MarsEdit from Red Sweater is a must. Not only is really, cheap, but it helps me organise my blogs in advance too!
So what is MarsEdit? MarsEdit is a tool that enables you to write blogs offline, is compatible with WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, TypePad, and Movable Type.
You can add tags, categories, links and easily add pictures from Apple Photos, Aperture, or Lightroom, and you can easily insert images into your blog post with the click of a button.
MarsEdit also syncs with your blog as well making it my go to piece of software for writing blogs. I tend to create a template and then add the main part of the blog at the time of writing.
MarsEdit is really low priced at just $49.95, however, the downside of it is…, it’s only available for Macs as we speak.
I use Camtasia for creating all my videos for my courses and marketing material. It’s great for screen capturing my PowerPoint videos, as well as being able to add video from my laptop and camera too!
Easy to use, intuitive, Camtasia offers a free trial, but I just know you are going to love it and if you are creating videos for your online courses, this will be your go to bit of kit. I have a copy on my PC as well as my MacBook as I love it so much and for those of you who are in education, non-profit, and government bodies, you will be please to know that there is a special pricing and discounts with a volume pricing that are available for students and teachers, as well as non-profit and government organisations.
This is a list of my top 5, I have others, and will write about them in another blog, at another time – if you go to Kaz Academy and sign up for a free Plus membership all my tools that I use with links are available to you, plus I tend to add any offers as they come up in there too!
