Today I am talking about Building Your List. Although in the Film, If you build it, they will come.” That line may have worked for Kevin Costner’s character in Field of Dreams, it does not work for business and you need to concentrate on building your list.

This month, I am going to talking about ‘Building Your List’, but before I do, I just want to mention that we have a 5 blog challenge for those of you who want to either start a blog, or who want to get your blog restarted, you can find how to enrol on this free challenge, you can sign up at, that’s the number 5, I will put the links in my shownotes.

So let’s get started about building your list.

Why is it soooo important to build your list?

Facebook rules change, so can any other social media you use. People visit your website or blog, then leave, but by offering a superb offering and collecting their email addresses, you can carry on with that relationship with your potential or existing customer and you then OWN that list, not matter how social media changes.

So, then, the number one priority every day should be thinking of ways you can showcase your stuff and to be of tremendous value to your followers and customers.

So, let’s looks how you can start at getting subscribers to your list:-

  1. Get a superb ethical bribe that your target audience NEEDs.

This could be a free course, a challenge, or downloadable cheat sheet, or as I have done today, a downloadable action plan. No one subscribes to your newsletter anymore, you need to be very specific in solving a problem for them

  1. Get a good email provider.

I have tried several, and have settled with GetResponse, I will put a link in the show notes for you

  1. Create a series of Auto responders.

This will get your sales funnel started, but more importantly, you will pop into their inbox on a regular basis, saving you having to think about what to write to them, these can be tips, action plans etc that link back to your site. You could start off by putting a note in your diary to write an auto responder each week, then now matter when your subscriber subscribes, they will then be added to the list and will be sent an email starting at number 1, doing this, you won’t have to remember what you have already sent to them that way.

  1. Monthly promotions

When you are planning your year out, I have a session on planning where you can go to, – I will put the link in the show notes for you, make sure you schedule monthly promotions, not necessary for selling, but to create events like, challenges, mini trainings, then promote them with a sign up optin box. This way you can show off your expertise in your field and to showcase what you do as well as attracting the right audience for what you offer.

So, this week I have an action plan for you, and that is to follow my steps 1-4 and get that contact list started and start growing your contacts list. To help you, I have created a downloadable action plan to help you get started. Just head on over to to download the action plan, print it out and get started – NOW!
