This week I am talking to you about why you should blog?

There are many reasons you need to think about blogging if you are not already doing so. Here is my top 4 reasons why you should be blogging:-

Connect with your customers

This has to be the most important reason to start a blog. As they say, you should not be building a business on rented land, for example Facebook, as their rules can change and as it does not belong to you, you have not control over it. So by building a blog on your own website, you have the control over how, when and where you connect with your customers. You also have the ability to get your target audience to sign up to your ethical bribe in exchange for their contact details, something you cannot do with social media, thus forming a connection with your customers by sending them out a weekly newsletter, furthering that connection with them to you.

However, by consistently writing a blog, your customers get to connect with you on a more personal basis, and if you add audio, photos and video, you can connect with them on such a deeper level. After all, as the saying goes, ‘people buy from people who they like, know and trust’. So connecting with your customers has to be a top priority when building a business, especially if you are going to be creating e-learning products like courses.

Getting found with SEO

Finally, Google loves you to post good regular content and by a little bit of blog SEO, you can get people to find you, the search for your topics on Google, and by putting in keywords that associate you to your target audience, Google will start to rank you for it so people can find you and your blog. SEO just takes a bit of time and effort, but it’s free, and people will buy from you via paid adverts, for example putting a PPC with Google or a Facebook add, getting found by your ideal customer when they have search for a solution to your problem, then find you! You have the answer, they sign up for your ethical bribe and voila, you can start that relationship with them.

Show you are the ‘go to’ person in your industry

Now that you have a platform, you can start to demonstrate that you are the person to go to in your industry by showcasing your knowledge by writing and talking about your expertise in your field.

Readers will learn from you and see first hand the knowledge you have to share in your chosen topic and will begin to think about you first when they have a problem they need to solve, and if you have written a topic about their problem and can show them that you can give further help and support in a product, whether that is a course, book or a membership program, then they are more likely to sign up with you than anyone else.

Make money

So, now your reader has the confidence in your product or service, they want to buy from you and if you can do a review, or put links into your blog for your product, you will make it so easy for them to buy from you. You already have shown them that you are consistent by regularly posting articles, tips and videos etc, they have seen for themselves that you are the go to person, and will find it so easy to buy from you by just clicking onto that link in your blog, and boom… your reader has now become a customer.
