Hello and welcome to session 76. Today I am going to be talking about your next 90 days and in particular a 90 day review.
I work in 90 day blocks. At the end of each 90 days, I take a week’s break, on the last day of the break, I do my quarterly review. This came from my days as a teacher, whereby we review each training session. We look at what went well, what did not go so well, and what could do better next time.
I keep a daily journal, this records my daily thoughts as well as my health records, I am a diabetic and I eat Keto, so I track things like my sleep, why? Because this will raise my cortisol levels, which in turn raises my blood sugar. I also track the weather, my exercise program as this all helps me track how well I am both mentally and physical. Why is this really important? Because my health is my number one prority and as I had a server bout of pneumonia last year, I am finding it hard to get back on track and need to find out why for example that a blog did not get written on time.
At the end of the 90 day review, and after I found out what went well, I make sure that the next 90 days, I put more effort in replicating this, and things that did not go so well, I analyse the reasons for this. By keeping a journal, I can really hone into the reason’s why it didn’t go so well, and it could be that it no longer feel that fits in my plans.
Do I only plan for the quarters?
No, I plan for the year, making sure that I book a week out every quarter, that it gets put into my calendar a year in advance and that I take a vacation first so that I am clear headed and rested. You don’t have to do this, but I find it really helps me to look at the big picture. You might just book a day out, go to the library, a hotel or camping also is a great way to take yourself out of the daily grind and get a helicopter view of things.
Not only do I do a 90-day review and plan, but I also do this on a smaller scale with a weekly review and plan as well as monthly one. But these are on a much smaller scale, and is often helpful for not allowing things to slip through the cracks so to speak.
